I love working on live events. The combination of prep, thinking on your feet, and getting the perfect shot when you only have one chance is so addicting.

What I didn't love about corporate live events is happens after the event where you now need to edit the recordings. The organizers need the edits fast, so time is of the essence.

However, it takes time to go through all the footage. It also takes time to sync the cameras. Lastly, it takes time to put together a cohesive edit.

This all made me wish that one day, there would be AI for conference videos.

So we asked ourselves, could Storylines tackle this challenge? Yeah, we can.

Let's take a look how we're tackling the problems of Multicam editing in live events and conferences with AI.

What Does Post Production Look Like After A Live Event?

Let's say you are hired to shoot and edit a three day conference with 10 events per day. After shooting the event, you now have a hard drive filled with your audio and video content. Now, you have to:

  • Import your files
  • organize your bins
  • sync Multicams
  • edit multiple rough cuts
  • add motion graphics
  • add branding

Let's say it takes about three hours of editing per event.

So on this three day conference example, you spend:

3 hours per edit x 10 events per day x 3 days of conference = 90 hours of editing time

It's at least two weeks after the conference that you're delivering these edits. Now the conference organizers are mad, and you're pulling your hair out trying to meet your deadline.

Storylines' Vision Of AI Multicam Editing For Conferences

Imagine we're working with the same example - 3 day conference, 10 events per day - but now, supercharged by Storylines.

Let's start with the 90 hours of footage. Once you input it into Storylines, our AI:

  • automatically syncs the cameras and audio
  • Automatically switches camera angles based on who is speaking and a set of rules created by professional video editors.
  • cuts stories from your event, finding key moments within your content
  • creates summary cuts (5min, 10min, 20min), and a collection of 1 minute social media highlight cuts

Upload your footage to Storylines while the event is happening. When sit down to edit later, you will already have rough cuts ready to go with in your workflow.

Now you can focus on polishing, adding in the branding and motion graphics. The best part? Storylines fit seamlessly into your workflow - whether you're using DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro.

Each event's edit now takes only about 30 minutes.

Let's take a look at the the math after using Storylines:

30 minutes per edit x 10 events per day x 3 days of conference = 15 hours of editing time

Now, you're turning around edits within days, not weeks.
