Studies show that viewers are much more likely to stick around on a social video if it has supplemental video layered in that brings a story to life.

If you look at any of the big social players in podcasting or interview based videos, they all use b-roll - it helps viewers assign context to the topic of choice.

So with research in mind, we’ve added a new feature to Storylines that we think you’re gonna love: one click b-roll addition!

What is B-Roll?

Not familiar with b-roll? Let’s quote the dictionary like a bad best man speech at a wedding:

“In film and television production, B-roll, B roll, B-reel or B reel is supplemental or alternative footage intercut with the main shot.”

So, in plain english - it’s the footage you add on top of your main video to make it more interesting and visually appealing.

How Do I Use One Click B-Roll Addition?

Go to your Storylines project, and highlight in the transcript where you would like b-roll to be added. Find a video you would like to layer on top of your "A-roll", or your primary video. Then, drop in a YouTube link to the pop-up window.

We’ll grab that video for you, and include it in your final export. If you’re finishing the project in your own editing software, that b-roll will appear in your sequence/timeline in Adobe, FCP, & Resolve.

Will This Make Me Get Thousands of Views On My Social Media Videos?

Well, we can't promise that - but we can promise that you'll see a definite improvement in your online presence, and that your viewers will stick around longer with B-roll addition.

Sign up now and see for yourself - Storylines is here to help!
