Setting multicam offsets manually
When auto-sync isn't available or drifts, set each angle's offset yourself — three ways.
An offset is one number per angle: how many seconds after the reference camera it started (reference = 0). In the diagram above, cam B rolled 2.5s late, so the same on-stage moment lives at 10s on A and 12.5s on B — the offset bridges the two clocks.
When you'd set offsets by hand: the batch was grouped manually (right-click → ⧉ Create multicam) so no auto-sync ran; the cameras had no timecode and unusable audio; or a switch feels consistently early/late and needs a correction.
Three ways to do it:
- Ask an agent to measure. "Measure and set the sync offsets for the multicam group" — the agent finds the same sentence in each angle's transcript and subtracts the timestamps. Accurate to about a word.
- Tell it the numbers. If you know the slate ("B cam rolled about 2 and a half seconds late"): "set the B cam offset to 2.5 seconds".
- Nudge to taste. After a switch, if the picture is a hair late, "add 0.2s to the B cam offset" and re-check.
Offsets live on the group, so a correction fixes every past and future angle switch at once. Imported batches usually arrive pre-synced — see sync at import.
