Reframing & crops (vertical, square, punch-ins)
Deliver 9:16 or 1:1 from horizontal footage, and crop individual segments for emphasis.
Two related tools:
- Segment crops — punch in on any single segment (tighter framing for emphasis, hiding an edge). Ask "crop segment 3 tighter on the speaker" or let an agent choose crops. Cropped segments show a ⧉ marker on the timeline; the player previews the crop live.
- Reframe canvas — change the whole edit's output format: 9:16 for Shorts/Reels, 1:1 for feeds. The edit gets a true output canvas with V1/V2 layers placed on it; the player letterboxes to the real aspect so what you see is what exports.
Both are non-destructive and live on the edit, not the footage — the same source can feed a 16:9 master and a 9:16 cutdown side by side. Crops and canvas settings survive export to your NLE.
